Abubakar Islamic Center of Louisville - Weekend Islamic School
Inspiring the Next Generation of Muslims
At Abubakar Islamic Center of Louisville, our Weekend Islamic School is dedicated to educating the youth in the fundamentals of Islam. Through engaging lessons on worship, character building, and Islamic history, we aim to provide a well-rounded Islamic education that helps children and youth develop a strong connection to their faith.
What We Teach:
1. Basics of Worship (Ibadah)
- Children learn the essential practices of worship, including:
- Salah (prayer): Teaching proper prayer etiquette, movements, and recitations.
- Dua (supplication): Introducing children to important prayers for daily life.
- Fasting: Understanding the importance and rulings of fasting, especially during Ramadan.
- Students also learn about cleanliness (Tahara) and how to prepare for prayer through Wudu (ablution).
2. Character Building (Akhlaq)
- We focus on developing good character traits such as honesty, kindness, patience, and respect, in line with Islamic teachings.
- Lessons include stories from the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Sahaba (companions), highlighting their exemplary conduct.
- Children are encouraged to apply Islamic values in their everyday lives, at home, school, and within the community.
3. Islamic History
- Students are introduced to the rich history of Islam, including:
- The life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): Key events in his life and his mission as the final Messenger of Allah.
- The lives of the Prophets: Stories of the Prophets (such as Ibrahim, Musa, and Isa, peace be upon them) and their lessons for today.
